Coosalud's defense team denounced President Gustavo Petro for accusations they consider "false" and "irresponsible."
Julián Quintana, the lawyer in charge of the defense of the EPS Coosalud (currently under intervention), filed a complaint against President Gustavo Petro before the Accusations Commission of the House of Representatives , arguing that the president made false and irresponsible statements against the entity.

A few months ago, on February 26 of this year, Quintana published on his X.com account that the “intervention (in Coosalud) was a smokescreen to cover up presidential corruption.”
Furthermore, in an interview with Blu Radio, Quintana said they have filed a complaint against President Petro for "irresponsible" statements suggesting that "Coosalud was involved in sending money to tax havens, which is completely false. We have compelling evidence that proves this accusation is completely false," Quintana said.
According to the lawyer, both the bank that manages the EPS's master accounts and the entity itself have confirmed that such accusations are unfounded.
In November of last year, during a presidential address, Petro said: “We have new allegations: healthcare funds went to tax havens. (...) These events are due to an EPS called Coosalud, which is not accountable to the intervened EPSs. Today, it's a private EPS that has not been intervened, but in my opinion, it should be intervened. There are people linked, even to previous scandals, (...) who have built a network of companies that manage to extract money from the IPSs, hospitals, and EPS clinics in general, and transfer it to tax havens.”

Coosalud's defense presented several arguments in its response. For example, it pointed out that during the administration of Jaime Miguel González Montaño, who left office in November 2024, more than 1,200 contracts were signed with legally licensed clinics and hospitals.
Based on the complaint filed, the House Accusations Committee opened a preliminary proceeding against the president on June 18 to assess whether there are sufficient grounds to initiate a formal investigation against Petro.
